Seth is late getting back to his senior year due to some unexpected surgery, but the capper to this really bad start is his new and hostile roommate, Gabe. However, as the hostility rises so does the attraction, but will Seth ever be able to convince Gabe to give him a chance to prove that he is worth the time?

Jane Davitt wrote a spectacularly emotional and hot tale about how love can sometimes look like something else, until you dig underneath all the disguises. Seth and Gabe are absolutely hot and unexpectedly romantic as they finally come together in an explosive fashion. Don’t miss out on Reading Between the Lines for a great read that is both fiery and emotional.

Review by Rose Nymph

Bringing a slightly darker, more complex feel is Reading Between the Lines, by Jane Davitt (4.5 Nymphs). It hasn’t been a good start to the school year for Seth Brookes. An emergency appendix operation made him two weeks late and threatening his spot on the soccer team. What’s worse, he’s been moved to a new dorm with a new roommate; transfer student Gabriel Rossiter. It’s clear from the start that Gabe can’t stand Seth. His immediate hostility has Seth puzzled, so he decides to find out just why Gabe transferred. As things reach boiling point and Seth learns just how deep Gabe’s scars run, he wishes his hunch had been wrong.

I related to Seth Brookes as I was as intrigued by Gabe’s behavior. Seth views Gabe as a mathematical equation; he just needs to figure out all the components before he can solve it. At first put off by his aggression, I soon became concerned for Gabe, justifiably so. Seth forces Gabe to face his demons and it is satisfying when the two finally surrender to the complex emotions they are feeling.

Characters with depth, intense emotion, long term romance and short term lust, Kegs & Dorms has a little of everything. If you enjoy powerful emotions mixed with the raging hormones of youth and a big helping of heat, this book is definitely the book for you.

Review by Emily.

Jane Davitt’s “Reading Between the Lines” tells the story of Seth Brookes who is returning to college for his senior year two weeks late due to a burst appendix. The roommate he had planned to live with took a year off to back pack around Europe and Seth is stuck with a new roommate. Gabriel Rossiter has transferred in for his senior year and from the moment he meets Seth he is rude and combative. Seth isn’t sure what he did to get on Gabe’s bad side, and the more he tries to deal with it and understand Gabe the more frustrated he becomes. Seth just can’t figure out Gabe’s deal, and it is stirring up all types of emotions.

This is an intriguing roommate-from-hell story with a lot of twists. I liked Seth from the very beginning of the story and the fact that Gabe is cruel from the start is attention grabbing. I immediately started to wonder what his problem was, and what had happened to him to make him so defensive. We don’t really find out what happened until near the end which makes for a captivating story that I really enjoyed.

“Reading Between the Lines” by Jane Davitt

Seth Brookes and Gabriel Rossiter are roommates and they mostly hate each other, except when they’re secretly fantasizing about each other. There is something going on with Gabriel and if Seth doesn’t figure out what it is, he’ll never get the chance to see if they could be more than roommates.

“Reading Between the Lines” is a great story. It’s angst-filled and very emotional. It’s also sexy, fun and stars two awesome guys.  Seth and Gabe are so real. Their personalities leap off the pages. They’re very hot guys and the sex is even hotter. I would love to read more about them. I didn’t get my fill from “Reading Between the Lines.”

In-House Review by C B Potts

CB Potts, author of Recovery, writes: There's the official reason we go to school -- the whole higher education, learn lots of stuff so we can make tons of money upon graduation logic. Then there's another reason, one that's perhaps not as well acknowledged, but certainly powerful: the drive to find people who like the same kind of stuff you do -- especially in bed.

That's what happens in Kegs and Dorms, a quartet of powerful stories by some of Torquere's best authors. This is a well-matched collection: all four stories are equally strong, and each has its own particular treat to leave the reader smiling.

Reading Between the Lines by Jane Davitt is my favorite tale in this collection. The dynamic between Seth and Gabe is confrontive and painful from the first word - -and Seth is determined to find out why. What he discovers will surprise you - and the smoldering sex scenes that accompany the investigation will make this story an instant re-read!

Overall, Kegs and Dorms is a strong, well written collection that develops one heck of an erotic whallop! Not to be missed.
